Art Work > For Plants

In my series, “For Plants,” I am looking closely at plants. They are mostly exotic plants that I see in the NY Botanical Garden. What grabs me is how strong and bold they are. In many cases, they reveal enormous leaves, roots and structures that remind me of sculptures. Many are green with various details of other colors, sometimes, shocking pink or red. For me, these shapes and textures are compelling. I want to draw them and try to understand how they wrap and reach and grow. I am not a scientist, so my understanding of them is limited, but the idea that they are alive is so earth-affirming.
