Art Work > Suburban Wildlife

The northeastern hemisphere was opening to Spring when the pandemic closed the world.

I am spending more time in my backyard and local environ. Along with the beautiful flowers blooming and the songs of birds, other local wildlife is emboldened, willing to be seen.

The creatures I regularly see include foxes, rabbits, squirrels, snakes, raccoons and skunks. I printed sketches of these found animals onto fabric. The drawings are positioned into fabric collage compositions derived from abstracted photos of urban scenes.

As many of us now spend more time noticing the natural world, I hope that our awareness increases our knowledge, respect and appreciation of the animals with which we coexist.
