Archive > Suburban Wild Life

The northeastern hemisphere was opening to Spring when the pandemic closed the world. I am spending more time in my backyard and local environ.

Beautiful flowers bloom, birds sing and other local wildlife demand attention. Foxes, rabbits, squirrels, snakes, raccoons and skunks are among the creatures I see regularly now.

In this series, called “Suburban Wildlife,” I print animal drawings onto fabric and position them into fabric collage compositions derived from abstracted photos of urban scenes.

As we spend more time noticing natural things, I hope that our awareness increases our knowledge, respect and appreciation of the animals with which we coexist.
