Art Work > Sunny but Cold: Diaries of Farm Women

"Sunny But Cold: Diaries of Farm Women" is my latest project—a tactile exploration of the lives of women who once lived and worked on farms in rural New York State. Through texture, text, and color, I reimagine their stories using natural materials like cotton, canvas, and lace to evoke a layered sense of history.
Fragments of sewn paper, rusted antique tools, and handwritten weather notes echo the rhythm of their days, grounding each piece in both time and place—the phrase “sunny but cold” lifted directly from one of their diary entries. By weaving together their own words with materials that speak to both labor and domesticity, I aim to create intimate works that offer a glimpse into the quiet resilience, beauty, and routines of their everyday lives.
